Scandal Season 6, Episode 6: 'Extinction'

In an episode focused on Papa Pope, flashbacks reveal exactly what happened the night of Francisco Vargas' assassination. It's 53 days before the election.

Papa Pope, Olivia's father, reconnects with an old paleontology friend we'll call Miss Dino. She's starting a new research project on fossils and asks him to be her partner. There's a spark between the two, as if they might have been lovers back in the day.

While setting up the large fossil laboratory he'll share with Miss Dino, Papa Pope sees a hidden camera. Has his old friend double-crossed him? He pretends to romance Miss Dino with wine and Marvin Gaye, then gets her into a closet. "Who are they? Are you working with them?" Papa Pope demands, holding a gun to her head. Miss Dino admits that Mysterious Baddies forced her to lure Papa Pope to this paleontology workshop. "They want you, that's all I know," Miss Dino pleads.
