Controversy Surrounds Upcoming ‘Empire’ Season 3

Fox’s Empire is set to return for its third season on September 21, but there have been a few rumors and conflicts surrounding the hit series that have shifted the spotlight from the scripted drama to real life drama. First, there’s been a lot of tension between Empire star Taraji P. Henson and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the man behind Power on Starz. Despite extremely different story lines, the two shows have often been referred to as rival series. Unfortunately, this has placed focus on competition rather than celebration. 50 Cent has been known to fuel the fire, and recently posted this photo as a jab at his ex Vivica A. Fox who also appears on Empire:

Taraji responded in the comments by calling 50 a bully, throwing a little shade and stating that they should be uplifting one another–a sentiment that many fans who enjoy both shows would agree with. Perhaps one day we’ll see the cast and crew of both series come together to celebrate one another’s success, but it doesn’t look like that’s happening anytime soon.

On another note, Trai Byers, who plays Andre on the series, has been the center of some speculation. Recent rumors floated around that the actor had become very unhappy and looking for a way out of the series, which would be a really big deal for such a large character on the show. However, Trai spoke out to discredit the rumors, stating, “Andre is a very complicated character. And my approach is complicated as well. The character is going through spirituality, trying to find his identity. How do we get to the truth but still keep it interesting and still fit into the world of Empire? I think that’s where the frustration lies.”

He went on to share that the upcoming season, however, will be a great one and fans should get excited. We’ll be waiting to see what craziness happens this season, and hopefully the feuds will finally burn out. Let us know what your #EmpireSeason3 predictions are.
