Today the hip hop world celebrates Tupac Shakur's death 20 years ago. For the newer generation they know the iconic superstar through the industry and fans keeping his legacy alive, but 1996 was also one of the greatest years in hip hop history. It was certainly a time to remember as it was a transitional stage that saw the genre move from the old school era into the golden era and eventually the ice age according to Mass Appeal and their video above.
We saw the business aspect taking new heights with the likes of Master P and Puff Daddy laying down the blueprint for clothing brands, independent labels, and more in a way never done before.
We bore witness to some of the best albums to ever be released in history in 1996 with the Fugees, Roots, Jay Z, Tupac, Nas, and more.

Mass Appeal who produced the video above also entered the business.
