REPDBYLOVE covered the 2016 Jerk Festival which took place in Centennial Park. The event saw issues dealing with power which caused event organizers scrambling to keep the event going. In the process they ended up disrespecting one of Toronto's top artists in Jully Black.
American artists who were on the bill included Joe and Rueben Studdard who event planners allowed to perform, while cancelling Jully Black's set due to "time constraints". "Canada's Queen of R&B/Soul's" gave a respectful speech regarding the matter and showed complete class. Toronto has forever been known as the "Screwface Capital" (meaning fans and artists hating its own), but this went to another level when promoters show more love to American acts than their own. That's why here at WWETV our Toronto staff works hard to bring the best of the city to the world. The city lacks exposure of its talent, but we are changing that with now working with WWETV Youtube Space Studios in George Brown College.
