VH1 Hip Hop Honors Red Carpet

VH1Hip Honors pulled out all the stops for the females who changed hip hop. Watch HOT 97's Red Carpet coverage of the event in the video above. After a six-year hiatus, VH1's Hip-Hop Honors returned on Monday night with a program dedicated entirely to female rappers. Since the show debuted in 2004, it has done much to pay tribute to hip-hop innovators, but males have dominated the proceedings.

The eighth Honors, aptly dubbed "All Hail the Queens," set out to correct that oversight. "Women been hip-hop, women are hip-hop, and women will always be hip-hop," Eve declared. "There's no way that I can allow us to be erased from the history of hip-hop," Queen Latifah added later. Even Michelle Obama added her voice to the mix: "I'm so proud of the two of you," she said in a taped speech.
