Prince and Michael Jackson were both huge musical legends and both gone way before their time, but they were also known for their long-running and mystery 'feud'.

And now it's been revealed Jackson told how he feared bitter rival Prince would die prematurely in a string of jealous rants secretly recorded three decades ago.

The King of Pop said he was worried the singer may kill himself, but he also branded Prince , who died of a painkiller overdose in April, mean, nasty and rude.

The Mirror can reveal for the first time the contents of the tapes, recorded for his autobiography Moonwalker in 1988. The full extracts on Prince have never been printed before.

The Daily Mirror obtained a set of recordings that were made to help craft Jackson's 1988 autobiography, Moonwalker, and recently revealed for the first time the singer's real thoughts about Prince.

"I don’t like to be compared to Prince at all," Jackson said. "I have proven myself since I was real little. It’s not fair. He feels like I’m his opponent. I hope he changes because boy, he’s gonna get hurt. He’s the type that might commit suicide or something."

Michael Jackson also spoke about the 1983 “James Brown & Friends” concert at the Beverly Theater in Los Angeles, California. It took place in 1983, after the Motown Anniversary show, where Michael did his first ever moonwalk.

Prince briefly plays guitar and does mic tricks, but his time on stage ended with him toppling over a large light into the audience. event that he and Prince attended where Prince messed up on stage.

The Purple Rain star mistook a paper mache stage lamppost for a real one and fell into the crowd. Jackson sneered: “He made a fool of himself. He was a joke. “People were running and screaming. I was so embarrassed. It was all on video.”
