WWETV's Friday Flashback for WWETV's Youtube Channel's Toronto Rappers & Hip Hop Series leads into November To Remember where we look back on some of Toronto' greatest hip hop artists in anticipation for Now or Never: Toronto Rappers & Documentary Film premiering at The On Film Festival November 22nd-29th.
This installment includes Nefarius who shot to underground fame in the city for their witty rhymes, Caribbean rooted lingo, and attack on wack rappers. The duo consisted of Kwesro (R.I.P.) and M.C. Collizhun. They are heralded as having one of the greatest freestyles ever on live radio in Toronto and were once very close to signing with Warner Brother Records before the untimely passing of Kwsero (Rohan Whittingham).
The M.C. currently lives in New York and has produced for such legends as MC Lyte, but recently returned to Toronto for the vinyl release of Tough Dumplin album which consists of music from the duo back in the days. Play De Records is the location where the limited edition is available. The record store is iconic in the city of Toronto and is one of the very few places in all of Canada where you can still purchase records. He is also a special guest for Toronto rap legend Michie Mee on Sunday November 1 for her Scorpio Birthday Bash which also will have other legends as Roxanne Shante.
