Drake Includes Joe Carter in Meek Mill Beef - New Era Rap Battling

It's not every day that Joe Carter is brought into a major rap beef, but that's what happened when Drake used Carter's iconic World Series homerun over Phillies. The ESPN show "His and Hers" discuss the creative way Drake used one of the most memorable moments in Toronto history to mock Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill.

For those who don't know the title of the song is "Back to Back" which plays of the Toronto Blue Jays of 1992 and 1993 who won back to back World Series. The clincher so to speak is Joe Carter hitting not only the game winning home run, but the World Series for the city of Toronto.

The pitcher who lost the game for the Phillies Mitch Williams was never the same again. Will this happen to Meek Mill? The city never forgave Mitch Williams and he even received death threats at the time.

There were some fans in the city who felt Meek Mill deliberately no showed Funkmaster Flex and HOT 97 on Monday Night by saving the diss song for Nicki Minaj's Toronto stop for her Pinkprint Tour. Maybe if this were 1996 with a "charged up" Tupac Shakur, Drake may have received his "Suge Knight Source Award" moment where Meek Mill played the ultimate diss card by being disrespectul to the 6 god in his home city. For those unaware of what kind of moment I am speaking about look no further than the video below:

However, that night also saw Snoop Dogg go at it in New York City as he felt the East Coast wasn't showing enough love to the West Coast rappers. The rappers of the 90's era were made out of a different cloth.

Meek Mill missed his opportunity to do something epic and legendary, but failed to do so at the concert at Molson Amphitheatre by Ontario Place. Maybe he was in a bad position to do so being the opening act for his girlfriend Nicki Minaj.

That was the problem that was created when Meek Mill ill timed his rant against Drake on twitter perhaps forgetting he had shows upcoming in Canada and especially Toronto.

Drake it seems has truly studied hip hop history as he may have anticipated a situation like in the videos above. Drake dropped "Back to Back" early in the morning in what seemed like a pre-emptive strike all thought out if Meek Mill pulled some disrespectful antic at the concert in Drake's own city. You would think this after all his mentor or idol is 50 Cent who is a master at calculating cold moves to freeze his rap opponents in the past such as Ja Rule (ironically referenced by Meek Mill in the "Wanna Know" diss song).

When you really take in the lyrics for "Back to Back" you can tell Drake was ready for it. To bad Meek Mill never followed through with doing anything like his 90's predecessors were known for doing. Different era and age I suppose.
