On SI Now, WWE superstar Daniel Bryan discusses why being away from his family because of WWE almost caused him to give up on wrestling. Bryan was undoubtedly one of the most popular superstars of this millennium, but succumbed to re-occuring injuries which made him retire way before his time.

Daniel Bryan was a highly touted indy wrestler under the name Bryan Danielson "The American Dragon". He would leave Ring of Honor to pursue the major leagues of professional wrestling when he became a cast member on the reality show Tough Enough which recruits people who aspire to join the WWE.

He started out at a disadvantage with his size in the land known for having giants, but his actual ring talent was too much to ignore even though he was fired for doing a wrestling move his first time on Monday Night RAW. In a NXT invasion of Monday Night RAW, Bryan got a little too excited and perhaps went overboard when he choked out an announcer. He eventually returned and became one of the hottest stars the WWE had since the highly acclaimed Attitude Era.

Some fans really rallied behind him when he lost his world title in record fashion at WM 28 to Sheamus which many felt had politics written all over it. From there the "YES" chants kept growing and so did his fame and standing in the WWE. He eventually toppled the biggest star since the days of Steve Austin and The Rock in John Cena and went on to headline WrestleMania 30.

It all went downhill from there as his action packed fighting style came back to haunt him when he received a serious neck injury. His popularity was so immense he perhaps ruined the return of Batista who the fans turned against in his favor and along with new rising star Roman Reigns.
