EAST RUTHERFORD (WWETV) -- HOT 97 once again had a sold out Summer Jam Concert Sunday night as is customarily with the popular radio event, but the difference this year tickets were oversold and people were angry when they found out they could not enter the event. However, other reports claim that is false. Some social media posts have suggested that all ticket holders were not admitted to the venue and were also not granted a refund immediately.

In the comments section on a news site said: “This story is not accurate. I was there and someone pulled out a gun. My tickets were over $350 and I spoke to the insurance department. Ticket master over sold the tickets ……. I was standing in one section and they grouped everyone in another section while a helicopter was hovering like they knew something would happen because of this situation. I just arrived back at my hotel and I don’t remember seeing police in gear. I was ducking in diving behind cars like I was in a video game.” There were many outbursts of conflict as New Jersey State Police tried to keep the stadium peaceful and concert goers grew increasingly frustrated and angry as tear gas was used to try to calm the violent crowds. Some people spent up towards to $10,000 for tickets to see their favourite artists perform at the annual event.

Hot 97 said on Twitter Sunday night that for those whose Summer Jam tickets were not scanned, refunds will be offered at point of purchase.

Authorities have not said how many have been arrested or injured, but Eyewitness News does know that one officer has been injured. Other reports have suggested that attendees have pelted the police with bottles and other items. Pepper spray has been released into the crowd, according to sources. New Jersey State Police released a statement Sunday night saying, "This evening, security personnel at one of the entrance gates to MetLife Stadium were confronted by crowds attempting to illegally enter the sold out Summer Jam concert by climbing over fences and forcing their way through security personnel. The gates have been shut and troopers on site have called for assistance from several nearby stations to help maintain order. Troopers and stadium security officials are insisting that all people outside of the gates depart the MetLife grounds to avoid congestion when the concert lets out. There is no number of arrests available at this time."
