Is Hip Hop Destroying Pop Culture?

(WWETV) As we enter the year 2015 the hip hop world is stronger than ever, but some believe that is not exactly a good thing. The critics of the genre recently have included the former KKK leader chastizing Nicki Minaj and elements that may not be seen as socially acceptable for influencing the youth across the world.

In the video above, Georgetown professor Michael Eric Dyson (who has written books on hip hip which include Tupac's Holla If You Hear Me) goes into a debate with Dr. Boyce Watkins on the very topic that is on the minds of many. Is hip hop destroying not only black culture, but popular culture as well?
