(WWETV) It's Throwback Thursday and great news has been released for hip hop fans as the legendary NWA rap group has been nominated for the 2015 Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. This comes in light of next year's movie about the group which is currently under production. As we all know the group are documented as being the fathers of the controversial gangsta/reality rap style that invaded the hip hop landscape in the early 90's which permeated the scene for years on end.
The NWA are in a field of nominations which include Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, Lou Reed, Sting, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Kraftwerk, Chic, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Marvelettes, the Spinners, Stevie Ray Vaughan, War, and Bill Withers.
Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, Run-D.M.C., Beastie Boys and Public Enemy are the only hip hop acts to ever enter into the Rock 'N Roll of Hall of Fame. The procedure for entering into the elite class of performers includes artists that have released their first single or album in 1989 or earlier which makes the NWA eligible.
